Alameda 5 de Outubro

Built on the old Passeio Público, built after the completion in 1845 of an embankment of the River Lima. In 1881, a project by the Porto landscape gardener Jeronymo Monteiro da Costa was presented, built and maintained until 1910, when the City Council decided to enlarge the garden. Today, it is a riverside promenade on the right bank of the Lima River, with its avenues, flowerbeds and benches punctuated by the emblematic Café Girassol and the fountain with the 1774 statue of Viana.
