Quinta da Boa Viagem

A country estate on the hillside of the Santa Luzia Mountains, facing the sea. In 1579, Gonçalo Ferreira Villasboas instituted the Quinta da Boa Viagem estate, linking the house and the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Good Voyage, built in 1592. On the way to Santiago, a doorway gives access to the courtyard of the house. Behind the house are gardens with stunning camellia trees, cultivated fields and vegetable gardens along a pathway where there is a back fountain with a pond and a wayside shrine to St. Anthony.
