Palacio da Brejoeira
Brejoeira is perhaps the grandest quinta do recreio (recreational estate) in the Alto Minho, both in the quality of its composition and its size. Its history is fundamentally associated with three figures. Luís Pereira Velho de Moscoso (1767-1837) ordered the palace to be built in 1806– completed only in 1834. Pedro Maria da Fonseca Araújo (1862-1922) bought it in 1900, and built the park as designed by Jacintho de Mattos (m. 1948). Lastly, Maria Herminia Silva d’Oliveira Paes (1918-2015), a pioneer figure in the Vinho Verde wine region.
