Casa de Nossa Senhora da Aurora

In Rua do Arrabalde, we find one of the most charming quintas do recreio (recreational estates) of the Ribeira Lima valley. The house, facing the street, was built at the behest of João de Sá Sottomaior, in the first quarter of the 18th century. The boxwood garden, on a large terrace , serves the dining room of the house with its flowerbeds, pond and remarkable trees. Our Lady of Aurora is worshipped in the house chapel and at the garden fountain, from where one can access the fields of the old vegetable gardens and the rare woodland environment.
